Eastender Ratings Haul

Eastenders pulled in the best TV audience of the year so far with character Danielle's death. The show peaked with 10.5 million viewers who witness the wedding of Archie and Peggy followed by the Danielle revealing to Ronnie that she was her daughter. The story had been surfacing for months and its climax proved a hit across the country.

The Albert Square show has suffered both a ratings drop and an onslaught from the critics. Its recent episode starring only black characters was panned by critics. Viewers have also been disappointed with the loss of characters such as Sonia and Martin as well as a lack of huge storylines. The ratings sucess last week proves that the show can still pull a rabbit out of the sleeve. With more storylines promised, and the addition/return of characters lined up later this year, Eastenders can still retain its crown as the top soap in the land.
